Detective Byomkesh Bakshy -----> Investigative Thriller Genre !!
Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction -----> Simple, Straightforward thriller story with a neat screenplay and wonderful detailing of the events (1943 Calcutta ) is such a pleasure to watch on screen :) :)
Director Dibakar Banerjee is such a master technician and perfectionist just take us back to 1943 ( with just the film mood and with his detailing )
Lot of people will feel his movies are slow ....but that his nature of work in all his previous movies too...he takes time in getting the film going and that what I like the most because he makes us travel through the film and he surprises you in the end !!
Without any romance scenes or comedy or songs or even a fight to take a detective Bollywood film need guts !! Bows to the director for the wonderful execution !!
Casting and Acting -----> Sushant Singh Rajput as Young Detective and Dr. Guha steals the show with their natural acting !! Just the final 30 mins of the film, it was in different level :)
Art Direction -----> Hats off to the Art director ....Perfect to the core with the detailing :) :)
Cinematography ----> First title song of the film and the last 30 mins of the climax portion is just an example of some high quality cinematography you can ever see !!
Detailing was there but to capture it and show us all in a frame perfectly need a good cinematographer ( Nikos Andritsakis) !!
Editing -----> Neatly cut and packed one ...No unnecessary single scenes for commercial compromise you can see in whole movie !!
BGM -----> Another Major Backbone of the movie ....Wonderful mixture of silence and good BGM :) :)
Rating -- 4.25 /5 !! A classic :) Must Watch in Theatre for its technical brilliance and for its filmmaking!! A movie for all !!
