My Favourite tamil Movies of 2014 :) :)

This is based on the films which i liked the most. Commercial success ellam naa kannakula edukala because i am not a producer...!!

So ithukkum sila peru sandaiku varathinga ...nee yenna ajith fan ah illa vijay fan ah nu ketta sava adikathinga ;) ;)

P.S ---> Just posted the films Randomly and in no particular order :)

1. Jigarthanda : 

Assault Sethu (Bobby Simhaa) steals the show with some intelligent and new filmmaking from Director Karthik Subbaraj !! Music and BGM from Santhosh Narayan..Huge salute for his originality :)

     

2. Pisaasu :

Director Mysskin all the way !! Horror + Love with emotions + Creativity + Climax ithu ellarukum pidikura mathiri edukurathu romba kastam but he nailed it :) 

3. Sathuranga Vettai 

Debutant Director Vinoth brilliant screenplay with a simple concept which we would have heard + Outstanding Dialogues + Awesome Acting by Natty brings out a classic !! :)

4. Mundasupatti :

A rare feel good movie where the whole audience from a Youth to Senior Citizen will like and love it :)

5. Vaayai Moodi Pesavum :

I       Innovation, Creativity and brilliant screenplay from Balaji Mohan makes Vaayai Moodi Pesavum :)

6. Pannaiyarum Padminiyum :

       

           Simple story with rural background...simple screenplay...simple acting ...completes A simple              lovely movie :) 

7. Thegidi :

  A investigative thriller (which is rare in Tamil Cinema ) with a simple love.... which engages          throughout :)

8. Madras :

  

North Madras life style was brought back in the screen...Karthi as Kaali just showed his acting skills   once again.. There was a brilliant chemistry between Anbu and Mary :)

9.  Burma :

        A brilliant thriller !! Wonderful concept of car theft which I have not seen in Tamil Cinema with a    crime background :)

10. Goli Soda :

 A very well made Commerical movie ..Director Vijay Milton screenplay was solid throughtout the film :)

11. Jeeva :

A Suseenitharan sports (Cricket) movie with an untouched subject on partiality in Cricket team selection !! Srini Mama was targeted to the core ;)

12. Kaththi :

ARM and Vijay Strikes again after Thuppaki with Kaththi :) 

Powerful Dialogues + Neat performance from Vijay + Anirudh's Music makes it a sensible good movie !!

13. Velaiyilla Pattathari :

      Terrific first half with Dhanush Ulti Performance + Super Duper hit songs and BGM ...end result was a blockbuster :) 

14. Kaaviya Thalaivan :

Some good performance from Siddarth, Naseer and Prithiviraj + ARR music and BGM + Vasantha Balan Vision ( eventhough it was predicitable and not his best , couldn't bring his 100 % vision onto screen ) makes it a worth a watch film :)

15. Poovarasam PeePee :

Heavily Inspired from Enid Blyton (The Famous Five) but still Debutant Director Halitha creativity and her Sincere approach of the script was evident throughout the film...:) 

16. Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum :

Just loved the concept (Since i have not seen Run Lola Run ) and its treatment with a comedy touch by Director Chimbu Devan !! Bugs was on a roll :)

17. Naan Sigappu Manithan :

Engaging Thriller .. Easily the best of Director Thiru ...Vishal acting ..Iniya ;) ;) were the major highlights !!

18. Meaghamann :

Cliched story but still where the Director scored was in his Characterisation and the perfect casting of actors with a racy screenplay !! Especially loved the end credits :) Pakka commerical action thriller movie :)

19. Kappal :

Story, Screenplay, logic ..leave it ...Just go with your friends and enjoy this one ...!! :) :) 

Vellakkara Durai --- Movie Review (Tamil)

Vellakkara Durai ----> Vaiyaula vera Durai nu vanthuchu ...but yennaiya naanae control panni kittan !!

Film pattern -- Comedy ...Romance...Song....repeatu....!!!

Ok ithu mathiri padam edunga paravala but ithayae konjam machum pudusa panna try pannalam la ??

Soori Comedy naa sollitu torture pannan ... Hero Heroine romance nu sollitu gandu eduthurathu....song nu peru la kovatha kelaparathu...repeatu !!

B and C centre kaga padam edukuringa naa anga mattum release panna vendiya thana ?? yen summa eduthathae edutha audience torture pannuringa ??

This film comes under that fifth category of film..so ithukku apparam review ellam panna vendam !!

(  According to me, there are five types of film (padam) categories :
(i) Class or Classic film
(ii) Sema or Worth padam
(iii) Okayish padam
(iv) Mokka padam
(v) Mayiru padam )

Rating -- 1/5 !! Sri Divya anga anga aalaga kamuchanga ..athukaga !! 

Kappal -- Movie Review (Tamil)

Kappal ---> Romantic ...athu theriyala but truly a comedy Genre !!

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> Story suthama onnum illa...but the screenplay is engaging throughout and it makes you laugh continuously with simple dialogues...so it doesn't bore even a second to think what is the story !! That's where the director scores :)

Casting and Acting ----> Neat casting and superb performance from all ...Genrally, Comedy padam naa actors tend to overdo but here correct ah irrunthuchu ..since the comedy dialogues were simple, dialogue delivery and performance was important ..I think all the 6 (antha 6 yaru na padatha pakkanum) nailed it :)

Heroine is the one perusa nadippa varala ...but who cares about the acting...;) ;) Director oru periya rasigan nu inga prove pannitan ;)

Music, Cinematography and Editing ----> I liked the songs and the theme music ...Songs were unnecessary but it was not boring ....maybe that remix song could have avoided ...!!!

Cinematography was decent...Editing kandippa could have reduced some scenes in second half...!!

Rating -- 3.25/5 !! As a movie ...average than ...but if it entertains all people who is going to care   ...Go with your friends and enjoy this one to the core :) :)

Meaghamann --- Movie Review (Tamil )

Meaghamann ---> Action thriller Genre !!

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> Neat commercial action film which is engaging throughout and Maghizh Thirumeni once again proves his mettle as a director after Thadaiyara Thaakka :)

Just constructed the simple story with beautiful characterisation(especially the villian) and choice of actors for the characters were top notch :)

Director tried to have minimum romantic portion which is not that much boring but could have avoided to make it even more sleeker action flick...!!

Especially the credit rolls portion (Which is practical) I loved it ...!!

Performance ----> With less dialogues, Arya just underplayed and steals the show :) Hansika did her role well...!!

Cinematography and Editing ---> Good and neat for the action film !!

Music and BGM -----> There were 2 songs in the film...the 2nd song concept and visuals were interesting ;) Mass BGM i liked it :) It suited well for the film..so Thumbs up for the BGM !!

Rating -- 3.5/5 !! Worth a watch !! If you are the fan of Good commercial films, don't miss this one out..Director Maghizh Thirumeni strikes again with a brilliant thrilling commercial film..Go for it !!

Kayal -- Movie Review (Tamil)

Kayal ---> Romance Genre !!

Story and Screenplay----> Climax creativity was good but the story and screenplay was very weak !!

But the problem in Romance films is that that IMPACT or FEEL factor must be there ...the audience also should fall in love with the characters or with the story....that one was missing here which is the biggest minus !!

For Ex :

In Mynaa, Prabhu Solomon nailed it because of the Impact factor of the lead pair romance ...!!

In Kumki, Mynaa aalavuku illatiyum...still the impact factor was there to an extend which safeguarded the film !!

But in Kayal, romance or the love portions which is the crux of the film doesn't ignite well...so that feel or the impact was not there in the second half ...after a point it become irritating ...!!

Climax and Graphics----> Second Half was very blant until the climax...Climax Graphics was really good :)

Dialogues ----> I doesn't know what the Director thought ...for the initial 20 minutes till the first song, the Director was on the teaching spree to the audience about the life and some philosophy about life !! Luckily after that, only in certain places the Philosophy lesson was there. So it was Bearable ;) ;)

Casting and Acting ---> Both Lead pair acting was good since not great scenes were there, chemistry between them failed big time !! 

Thatha character was the saving grace in the first half..Ulti Comedy and that portion of the film was the best :)

Cinematography and Editing ---> Sema Visuals and some shots were great especially in the first half and the songs :) Editing was a very good ..he tried his level best to make the film interesting but i said strong story and impactful screenplay illa!!

Music and BGM ---->  Songs sema ..BGM too !! D Imman gives his best to Prabhu Salomon :)

Rating -- 2.5/5 !! Due to the Visuals, climax and Songs, it managed to crawl into Sumar or Average category..!! Script Writer Prabhu Soloman fails ...so the engaging and impact factor of the film fails !!

P.S - Sorry for the very big review..Hope to minimize it next time ;)

Pisasu -- Movie review (Tamil )

Pisasu ---> Mysskin style Love-Horror Genre :)

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> A story with less than 10 characters ..without much big suspense...but he engages us continuously right throughout the film with his delightful MYSSKIN style screenplay and scenes :)

In Some places, Director touch was felt :) Climax - Respect for his creativity!!

Casting and acting ---> For most of them it was their debut film..but i bet ...you cant find it anywhere in the film :)

Cinematography and Editing ----> Top Notch work from both of them...Certain angles and shots vera level !! :)

Music ---> BGM extraordinary....Great work from Arrol....lot of places Illaiyaraja effect or touch vanthuchu which is a big success :)

Rating -- 4/5 !! Must must watch !!Just for Mysskin's wonderful filmmaking, the climax and his creativity...!! 

Onnaiyum Aatukiuttiyum was his best I thought....but he has just made the strides higher with Pisasu !!

PK -- Movie Review (Hindi)

PK ----> Commercial + Social Drama genre ( i.e.., Lage Raho Munnabhai genre ) !!

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ------> Wonderful concept, engaging screenplay with witty dialogue which makes the film watchable for all set of audience (Both commercial and good movie lovers) :)

For example.., Dancing car ...to understand the dancing car you need to watch the film :) 

Some may argue Lage Raho Munnabhai mathiri irruku nu...but still you can watch the film just for the concept alone :)

Casting and Acting -----> Aamir's Acting - its boring to describe always that he has done well...and his chemistry with Anushka Sharma for some strange reasons it works out well !!

Boman Irani, Sushant Singh rajput and Sanjay Dutt all did their cameo role very well :)

I liked the Antagonist ( Tapasvi aka Saurabh Shukla) very much..his expression were awesome !! 

Music ---> Typical Bollywood songs...that impact was not there ...but BGM i liked it throughout the film ...Especially the theme music and some emotional scenes BGM were too good ! :)

Cinematography and Editing ----> Decent and perfect !! perusa pudusa onnum illa !!

Rating - 4/5 !! Its a Gem!! Must watch as soon as possible !! Just watch for its good screenplay with content and Aamir Khan acting ...you wont regret it for sure !!

Idam Porul Yaeval --- Music Review :)

Idam Porul Yaeval ----> If Yuvan was back in Vai Raja Vai...then Idam Porul Yaeval he is back to his very best nu sollalam....:) :) 

1. Eerakkathae by Senthil Dass and Anitha :

Romantic Song...Voice of the both singers were divine and with wonderful tune ...another hit song on the way :)

2. Kondaatame by Sriram Partthasarathy :

Decent good Song but the problem is since we have heard lot of this type or this tune songs from Sriram Parthasarthy and Yuvan ...So we get the feeling of onnum pudusa illa nu...but maybe some other singer had sung it would have been a great song !!

3. Atthuvaana Kaatukku by Yuvan Shankar Raja :

Another Yuvan type song ..but this time it not a romance but a emotional song...and he has done complete justice...Simple tune with some soulful emotional singing !! :)

4. Kurunthogai by V.V Prassanna and Sonia :

Immediate thinking we get after you hear first 2 mins of the song is that...ithu unmaiyalae Yuvan potta song illa Illaiya Raja potta song ah nu...because lot of Illaiya Raja flavor was there right throughout the song :)

5. Endha Vazhi by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi :

Female version of Attuvaana Kaatukku from the same album ...Same tune just the voice of Vaikom Vijayalakshmi gives that extra punch !!

6. Vaiyambatti by Anothony Dassan and Priyadarshini :

Old Yuvan template folk (CHENNAI 28 or MANAKATHA song than yamagam vanthuchu ..exact song theriyala) ..Pudusa onnum illa both tune and singing wise...but still some people may like it ...and also i don't want to complain anything because he has already given good 5 songs in the album ;)

My Picks ---->  Eerakkathae , Attuvaana Kaatukku and Kurunthogai !! Even Endha Vazhi but since it had a same tune so it missed out :) 

Rating - 3.5/5 !! Yuvan Best in recent times ...Rural effect + Soulful songs ...Paruthiveeran pidichi irrunthu ithuvum kandippa pidikum :) :) 

Ra -- Tamil Movie Review

Ra ----> Horror genre !!

Story, Screenplay and Direction ----> Straight story with a simple screenplay and has all the elements what we see in a horror movie....!! But the problem was the climax...i couldn't understand what the director wants to tell the audience !!

Casting -----> With a little bit good underplayed performance from the hero would have surely enhanced the movie and also would have made it even more interesting in the first half !!

Cinematography -----> One of the best i have seen in recent times !! Some great angles and lighting :)

Editing ---> Could have reduced some typical horror scenes both in first half and second half ...after a point it was boring !!

Music -----> 2 unnecessary songs in the first half ethukku nu theriyala ...but the BGM was simple and good...it was different from the usual horror movies :)

Rating - 3/5 !! One time watch !! Good decent debut from the team....but a better hero and little clear in what they want to convey in the end would have made a must watch movie !!

Anegan --- Music Review (Tamil ) :) :)

Anegan‬ ---> Typical Harris Jayaraj copy cat album !!

Only one song etho pudusa irruku oru light feel which is Danga Maari Oodhari ....athuvum I think it's due to Marana Gana Viji vocals !!

Remaining songs what I felt :

1. Aathadi Aathadi -- Just the female version of Yamma Yamma kadhal Ponnama of 7am Aarivu !!

2.Deivangal Ingae --- Illamai ulasam mixture from Unnalae unnalae!!

3. Thodu Vaanam ---> Sakhiye mudhal sakhiye ( Dhaam Dhoom) oda male version and little touch up of Anbe en anbe song!!

4. Roja Kadale ---> Kilimanjaro from Enthiran !!

5. Yolo ---> One friend marriage song ( Hear this song for first 1 min..same tune copy...link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzIFHl8Vawg )

Rating --- 2/5 !! Consistency personified ....naa copy adikura consistency ah sonna  

Kayal -- Music Review :) :)

Kayal‬ ----> D Imman bangs with a solid gripping album 

My picks are Unna Ippo Paakkanum , Yenga pulla irruka and Yen aala paakaporen !!  

Templates are same as for any Prabhu Solomon film..but still the song sounds good and fresh !!

Rating ---> 3.5/5 !! Another good decent album from Imman .....!! Imman and Prabhu Solomon Strikes gold again  

Kakki Sattai ----> Music Review (Tamil) :) :)

Kakki Sattai ---> Decent and Catchy Album !!

1. Kattikida by Antony Dassan ----> Rendition is sema but the problem is the familiarity of the tone !! Old song tune yamagam varuthu but dont know the exact song

2. Kadhal Kan Kattudhae ----> Soulful Duet song :) Sema singing by Sakthisree Gopalaen and Anirudh :) :)

3. Kaaki Sattai ---> Vettiyadu Velaiyadu (karka karka ) style opening song ...!! lot of old Harris Jayaraj song style was there !! Maybe with visuals nalla irrukalam !!

4. I'm so cool ---> Lyrics and singing funny and nice ...Same like Ethirneechal song (Boomi Yenna suthuthae) !!

5. Shake that ----> I didnt like it that much... after shaking it ...headache than vanthuchu !! May be some may like it !!

6. Theme music ---> Both were decent !! Need good visuals to enhance it !!

My picks are Kadhal Kan Kattudhae and I'm so cool :) :)

These two songs would surely become blockbuster ..!! :)

Rating - 3/5 !! This album will be hit no doubt !! But now i feel his tune getting repetitive ...Yennaku than antha feel ah illa ellarukum ah nu theriyala !! 

Lingaa ---> Movie Review :) :)

Lingaa ----> Periodic Social Awareness......Sorry Padayappa.... Muthu Genre !! ;) ;)

Story, Screenplay , Dialogue and Direction -----> Going to KS Ravikumar film expecting a story is a big sin...KSR is always a intelligent Screenplay writer but here his thinking was good but the execution was very poor and lazy ..!!

Yeah Dialogues were good but it missed the punch it had in Padayappa or Muthu !!

Rajinikanth ----> Biggest savoir of the movie....His charisma, Energy, Style and his dialogue deleivery just electrified the screen !! :) :)

Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha ----> Perusa onnum sollurathu illa..one thing i noticed is Sonakshi Sinha Father in the film was Radha Ravi and both had a similar face feature ;) ;) Sonakshi cuteness level in the film vera level !! :P :P

Santhanam ---> His chemistry with Rajini in first half was good ...so it kept was engaged in the first half !!

Climax pathi ellam pesura alavukku yennaku thaguthi illa !!

Music ----> one of the Mediocre BGM and RR from ARR !! Songs placement in the film was pathetic !!

Cinematography and Editing ----> Decent one from Randy ....Editing elllam avasarama panna mathri oru feel !! Could have concentrated more into it !!

Rating - 2.5/5 !! KS Ravikumar wants the film to be released on 12-12-2014....the effort which he took in releasing in that date ....the same effort could have put in film making ...it would been a biggest blockbuster ever !!

If you are the biggest Thalaivar fan..surely one time worth watch....!!

Rajini pidikum but padam yeppadi naa??? Romba sumar than !! Big Disappointment personally for me !!

P.S ---- I am a Thalaivar fan...but Thalaivar fan ah irrunthalam...padam nalla irrunthu ...nalla irruku than solla mudiyum...nalla illa na...nalla  illa than solla mudiyum !! :) :)

Vai Raja Vai --- Music Review :) :)

Vai Raja Vai ------> Typical Yuvan Album !! :)

1. Pachchai Vanna Poovae -- With Yuvan music, feel and rendition...its surely going to be chartbuster :) After a long time youthful soulful song from Yuvan !!

2. Naam Vaazhndhidum -- Hip Hop Tamizha and Yuvan just nailed this song with their singing..tune wise i didn't find anything new ...but just their singing make it a decent pick !!

3. Vandha Kadha -- Gaana Bala again !! Even though we have heard this tune somewhere still it is good easy catchable song !!

4. Move your body -- Yuvan tried to experiment with Illaiyaraja... but sadly i didn't like it ...Illaiyaraja paduna mathiri illa ..etho computer software la he mixed and wasted it !!

5. Pookkamaazh -- Saroja song he used and mixed it here ....!! Attractive one but not new and impact illa ...!!

My Picks ---> Pachchai Vanna Poovae and Naam Vaazhndhidum !! :)

Rating - 3.25/5 !! Aishwaraya Dhanush proves again she is capable of taking best out from the Music Director ...First with Anirudh and Now with Yuvan Shankar Raja :) :) Yeah...Yuvan is back with a bang !!
