Kabali --- Movie Review

Kabali --- Emotional Drama Genre !! 

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> Typical Ranjith film with slow and steady realistic screenplay ( for most parts with some Liberty) with wonderful casting ( Dinesh overacting kamme panni irrukalam) and delightful performance . Just brought back the Rajini of Aarulil irrunthu aaruvathu varai and Mullum Mallarum where the performance will speak than the mass scenes. 

Rajini's hardcore Fans will be disappointed to be honest. But the content wise this film will be on a high. Just maybe the look or dialogue delivery or the pause between the dialogues or the style you will see a different subtle class Rajini with less Mass elements and dialogues. Radhika Apte was the suprise package of best performance in the film other than Rajini. 

To put it in a easy way ..if you are satisfied with Madras film  you would love Kabali ... If not you will be feeling maybe they could have added something more to the story and screenplay. 

Music and BGM ----> Santhosh Narayanan just lifted the film to different level with his BGM and Songs. He is the main pillar of the film. Even the slow pace of film will be forgived for his BGM.

Cinematography and Editing ----> Brillaint work from Murali. Lot of different angle and shots. For example Watch out for  one mirror in first half scene between Attakathi Dinesh , John Vijay and Rajinikanth. Brillaint thinking. 

Making --- > Its technically brillantly made film with very good detailing for a Rajinikanth film. Kudos to Ranjith. 

Rating -- 3/5 !! Just overhyped may have killed the good film ... I liked  Madras but thought it could have been better .. Same thing goes for Kabali !!

Amma Kanakku ---> Drama Genre !!

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> Remakes always need a apt Casting and very good dialogue writer !! If not that feel will be gone !! 

Amma Kanaku falls under this category !! It has a Very good story and even screenplay but the problem is some poor casting and dialogues !! 

Due to poor casting characters doesn't have impact so we get that artificial feel and automatically emotional connect becomes less !! 

Thozha is very good example where Raju  Murugan ( Director of Cuckoo and Joker) did a brilliant job and as a result remake of the movie becomes simple and effectual !! 

Climax was another ROFL ... Nearly 85% script is perfect and I don't know why needed to have that type of cliched philosophical climax !! 

Casting and Acting ---> Amala Paul was superb and only one thing which I can't understand is the make up!! She is acting as maid but what is the need a glossy make up ? In the film as a Daughter to Amala Paul Abhinaya did an outstanding job with her expressions and acting !! 

But the show killer was Samuthurakani. Being a director himself and a National Award winner it was even sickening to see that type of performance from him.

Music , Cinematography and Editing ---> Isaiyin Appa did a decent job but Periya effect illa ... DOP was neat and pakka and Editing was perfect !! 

Rating -- 2.5/5 !! Good intent but fails in execution !! Casting and dialogues doesn't have a necessary impact !!

Oru Naal Koothu --- Drama Genre !!

Women and marriage this is what the story is all about and Debut Director Nelson Venkatesan gives us a neat movie which works in most part. The problem mainly is from the performance point of view. Especially Dinesh and RJ Ramesh Tilak. Dinesh underplays to the core and Ramesh overplays to the core. Since Dinesh character here is an IT guy he could expressed and emoted more. Bala Saravanan and his friend ( bald guy) both were terrific in the limited scope what they have !!

But the heroine performance all the three of them was seriously superb ... Mia George once again impresses with her acting skill... Same with Newcomer Nivetha and Riythivika they did their job well !! Maybe Director could have concentrated more on Male Lead performance. Definitely Dinesh and Ramesh are capable performers we have seen in the past !!

Climax seemed little forced one because till that point film was realistic. Music by Justin Prabhakaran is the huge plus for the movie especially the BGM.

Rating -- 3/5 !! Above Average movie ...Maybe even more tighter performance and writing it would be have been seriously superb movie...!! Nevertheless, Harmless one time watch which you wont regard if you go with lesser expectation !!

Iraivi --- Drama Genre !!

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ---> Karthik Subburaj proves with each film that he is a different Intelligent director !! This is also another film of his which you can't predict what genre does the film belongs !! 

Mature, Hard Hitting content which most of them won't accept or understand ... Some films we say it released very early of time and Iraivi would be one such film !! Especially the director is very true to his story with no commercial compromises in his screenplay or making !! It takes some time to overcome it after watching the film !! 

 -----SPOILERS ( Not revealing the story or climax but explanation of certain scenes) --------- 

Lot of beautiful Single shots explains the story and gives that director touch .. One is SJ suryah and Kamalini will be facing each other for signing divorce papers and suddenly their child will wake up and shout ....both will stand up simunteously !! ( shows that both are equal in their affection towards their daugther ) 

Second is Vijay Sethupathy Jail dress will be dropped down from the drying hanger !! ( Indicating Vijay Sethupathy is releasing from Jail) 

Third is SJ suryah and Bobby Simhaa visits Vijay Sethupathy for one final project  ..A doll will be rolling upside down in his house !! ( Meaning Vijay Sethupathy breaks his promise to his wife and accepting for the project) 

Fourth is SJ Suryah meeting Vaibhav .. And introducing as your Ex-fiancé husband !!

Casting and Acting ----> Perfectly cast and brilliant performance !! Especially  SJ Suryah ..Vijay Sethupathy .. Anjali ... Pooja Devariya stealed the show ! 

Cinematography , Art Direction, Music , BGM and Editing -----> Let it angle , Detailing or the Shot everything is brilliant !! BGM just enhanced the movie to different level !! 

Rating -- 4.5/5 !! Iraivi as a film not all would like it !! It will be debatable because of the content !! 

But Hats off to Karthik Subburaj for his creative filmmaking !! Cult movie !! :) 

Idhu Namma Aalu -- Movie Review

Idhu Namma Aalu ---> Rom-Com Genre !! 

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> It's not a love story it's just the atrocities done by the couple before the arranged marriage which Director Pandiyraj has captured realistically and beautifully as possible !! Trolling of Simbhu is Vera level !! 

Some errors are there in story and screenplay .. Some artificialness especially the climax  creeps in but when most of the film is entertaining and realistic you can skip that and enjoy the movie with a smile !! 

Simbhu - Nayan and Simbhu - Soori combo makes it forgot the flaws !! Unless if you are a die hard Simbhu hater skip this .. Illati you would love this film !! 

Don't expect a Mani Ratnam or Gautham Menon romantic classic ... It's just a relatistic fun film trolling Simbhu and arranged marriage couples atrocities !! 

Casting and Acting ---> One of the films where Simbhu underplays and brought out the emotion as realistic as possible !! 

Nayanthara as usual did her job well !! Simbhu and Nayanthara chemistry is biggest plus!! Periya romance scene illa but that feel has been brought out !

Soori's best film because he underplayed the character very well !! 

Music and BGM ----> Songs are hit already and BGM was good for a debut music director !! 

Rating -- 3.5/5 !! Worth a watch !! Enjoyable realistic fun movie !! Simbhu is back !! :) 

Marudhu ----> Movie Review

Marudhu ---> Rural Family Drama Commercial Entertainer Genre !! 

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction ----> First I went into the movie thinking it's going to be same village back drop commercial film and it's going to be unintentional fun !! But Director Muttiah proved me wrong and gave a honest true rural family drama film with some outstanding characterisation :) 

Overall Story and Screenplay template is same and  it has lot of  similarities with Sethupathi film. Surely not on the story part  but the treatment and intelligence of Director and the brilliant characterisation !! Both are cliched in story and screenplay wise but both directors used their intelligence and improvisation to make it interesting !! 

Soori underplayed with his comedy and gave a solid performance !! 

Dialogues another huge plus and performance of all characters especially portraying of women characters were neat and they didn't overdo it !! 

Villain characterisation is important in any rural drama and R K Suresh as Rolex Pandi ( Villain of Tharai Thappatai) is seriously an extra ordinary actor and given us a performer of highest level !! Director and Vishal need to be lauded because in Marudhu Rolex Pandi (R K Suresh) is the hero and his screen presence is throughout the film and makes an every lasting impact !! Vishal perfectly underplayed as second fiddle in the movie !! 

Maybe the Grand Mother (Mariamma) character which had lip Sync issues and staring of the film it was not cohesive or perfectly blending with other characters but as movie goes you will get involved with the film and forget that !! 

Music, BGM, Cinematography and Editing ----> Songs were okay .. BGM I liked it ... Cinematography and Editing was brilliant with the continuity and some solid angles !! 

Rating -- 3.25/5 !! If you are fans of Nativity movies it's a must watch !! Nativity, Characterization, Performance, Dialogues and Screenplay all are big Plus !! 

If still not convinced watch for RK Suresh performance you won't regret!! :)  

Ko 2 -- Movie Review

Ko 2 ----- Political Drama planned but it become unintentional Spoof genre !!  

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue, Casting, Acting and Direction ------> Story, Screenplay ellam secondary ....but the casting and acting sucks big time ! Ukkandhu ...ninutu ...illa padathutu koda pakka mudiyathu...that is the level of overacting by all the characters in the film !! So within 10 minutes film started I knew that I have come to a special movie like Anjaan...!! So i never cared about story or screenplay or logic....just watched carefully for unintentional ROFLMAX moments and I had a blast !!

Padathula ellam experienced casting but ellam overacting .... My Favorite dialogue in the movie is "Appa Vantharuvaru Wait pannunga.....Appa Vanthuruvaru wait pannunga...." I wont reveal the spoiler...watch out for this scene ( Same like I m basically watch mechanic from '24' film ) !!

Diaogue ellam ishtakku irruku...in some places it was good....but who cares if the film is full of overacting ... Lip sync konja koda match agala in most places....Bobby Simhaa has a baby face...His expression seems to be limited....Hard fact is we can't take him as a hero...Romance...dance...fight ethuvum natural ah varala !!

Prakash Raj nowadays just overact too much....with unnecessary loud noise still in Ghilli days !! Ghilli release aayi 12 years aayrichu...konja machum velaiya varalam apa apa!!

Music and BGM ---> Songs and BGM really superb ...Only positive of the film !!

Cinematography and Editing -----> 2 hrs 05 mins than padam....but athuvae epa mudiyum nu irrunthuchu !!!

Rating ---> 1.5/5 !! Watch if you like Anjaan !! Padam serious ah pogum but we will be having fun.... Jolly ah friends oda poi pesitu padatha kaluvitu enjoy pannalam !!
